CHILD SUPPORT MARCH MANIA RESULTS IN ARREST AND $20,000.00 SURGE

Assistant County Attorney Shaun McEntire has once again led the Hopkins County Child Support Unit to a victory for Hopkins County families. Earlier this month, the Hopkins County Child Support was literally “thinking outside the box” when they placed child support “most wanted” fliers on pizza boxes from Godfather’s Pizza Rocksans Pizza, Quality Pizza, and Hobo Mickey’s Pizza. This innovative campaign took place throughout the NCAA tournament in hopes of gathering information on those with outstanding warrants and increasing collections for the children of Hopkins County. It proved to be a slam dunk!

According to Mrs. McEntire, child support collections in Hopkins County for January and February were approximately $350,000.00 each. In March, they took the full court press against non-paying parents and scored in a big way. Their “March Mania” play has resulted in a “most wanted” arrest and total collections for March of almost $370,000.00. Additionally, citizens have provided information that is likely to help with collection efforts for months to come. “It’s exciting to see community involvement in helping to get the job done” said McEntire.

The Hopkins County Child Support continues to be among the top performing units in the state, having received the Outstanding Child Support Performance Award for the past five (5) years. With more than $1,000,000.00 collected for the first quarter of 2104, they are ranked 20th out of 120 counties for current child support collections. Mrs. McEntire credits her seasoned team and community support for these results because “you can’t continue to win without a consistent team of great players!”
